Community Cleanup Event at Border Field State Park

2014TRAM

Who:  Surfrider Foundation – San Diego County Chapter, the Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve, and YOU!! All ages are welcome. Volunteers under 18 yrs of age must have a signed waiver by parent or guardian. Volunteers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

When: Saturday, February 20, 2016 from 8:00 am-12 noon.

Where: Goat Canyon in Border Field State Park. 1500 Monument Road, San Diego, CA 92154

Why: Help us clean up one of the most environmentally degraded areas in San Diego County! Goat Canyon is a wash that lies directly north of the US/MX border. Trash, sediment and waste tires routinely travel across the border and into this wash with every rain event. Every scrap of trash and discarded tire we remove from this area equals that much less waste that enters the estuary, beaches and ocean.

What to wear/bring? Volunteers must work in long pants and boots or sturdy, closed-toe shoes. We also recommend bringing sunscreen, sunglasses, and hats. Work gloves, tools, water and a light snack will be provided.

Event to be followed by a complimentary volunteer appreciation lunch, location TBD.

Pre-registration is required. Click here to sign up today!

 # Please note that the date and location of this event are subject to weather considerations and may be changed if a rain event occurs or is predicted within 72 hours of the event time.
