Thefirst Saturday Nature Walk, titled AnEye-OpeningExperience Without Sight, is with Docent Ron, who isblind, and demonstrates how usingother senses, besides sight, will create an enriched appreciation and enhancedknowledge of native plants. The Tijuana Estuary protects a variety of plant communities and wildlife. Walks begin at the Visitor Center. All ages welcome. No reservations required. FREE!

Take a leisurely stroll down the McCoy Trail and view and learn about some of the 370 species of birds that live or stop by this Reserve on their yearly migration. Walks begin at the Visitor Center unless otherwise noted on calendar. Bring binoculars if you have them. All ages welcome. No reservations required. FREE!

Join San Diego Bird Alliance for a habitat restoration event at the Tijuana Slough, part of the Tijuana River watershed! This coastal sage scrub habitat is home to numerous bird species who forage, rest and reside in the very plants we'll be adding.
We will be planting native plants, so come prepared in closed-toed shoes and field clothing. A reusable water bottle and sun gear is also recommended. We will provide the gloves, tools, snacks and water.

Explore the Colors of the Estuary: a Community Art Therapy Experience

This new experience begins with a nature walkalong the North McCoy trail. With a bit of guidance, participants will observethe marsh with an artist’s eye and ear. At the trail's end, with the useof a singing bowl, Camille will lead a guided meditation to find stillness anda sense of relaxation. Then, while taking inspiration from the varying colorsaround them, participants will paint with watercolors to capture thebeautifully preserved habitat. By the end of this experience, we hope participantspaint without self-judgment and feel an interconnectedness with nature.

Join the Living Coast Discovery Center on their Trail to Bay hike series. This will be a bilingual (English/Spanish) birding hike at the Tijuana Estuary marsh land located in the most southwestern part of the United States. This flat trail takes you through the Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve, along the Imperial Beach coastline with the Mexican border in the background. Encounter native wildlife and plants in this unique and endangered ecosystem.
